A cat flap into a single glazed door or window

Looking for professional cat flap installation or dog door fitting? Our expert pet door installers provide safe, secure, and seamless installations into a variety of doors — including uPVC, wooden, and single glazing glass doors. Give your pets the freedom to come and go as they please, while saving yourself the hassle of opening the door every time nature calls.

Why Choose a Pet Door?

Installing a cat flap or dog door is a smart, time-saving solution for any pet owner. It enhances your pet’s independence and supports better toilet training and outdoor access — all without compromising your home’s security or insulation.
Installing Cat Flaps in Single Glazing Doors

Single glazed doors, often found as secondary kitchen or utility doors, typically feature a single pane of glass between 3mm and 10mm thick. These may include patterned or frosted designs for added privacy.

Due to the fragility of single glazing, installing a pet flap into these doors requires specialist expertise. Rather than cutting directly into the glass, we replace it with a high-strength glass-effect panel (Toughened Safety glass) — up to 5 times stronger than standard single glazing. This ensures a secure, durable, and long-lasting installation that maintains your home’s safety and aesthetics.

Why Use Our Cat Flap & Dog Flap Installation Service?

Professional installation into uPVC, wood, composite, and glass doors

Specialist knowledge in single glazing cat flap and dog door fittings

Use of toughened, glass-effect substitutes for maximum safety

Clean, mess-free installations with minimal disruption

At cat flaps East London we can supply and fit / install a new cat flap or catflap in your single glazed door.

Question: I need a cat flap fitted in a single glazed door. How long does this take and what happens?

Answer
1. We would arrange to visit your home or property at a convenient time to get an exact measurement of the current glass in the door, check what pattern your glass currently is and offer a like for like or an alternative if the glass is no longer manufactured.

2.
We would then cut a new piece of 4mm float glass (plain or pattern of your choice) to the exact size as measured, cut a hole for the cat flap and then have the glass sent away to be toughened.

3.
Approximately 2-3 day later the cat flap glass will be ready to collected from the toughening plant at which point we will then  arrange a convenient time with you to call back and replace the current piece of glass with the glass ready for a cat flap installation.
